Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson’s District Director, Carla Castilla to Run for Supervisor, District 3

Senate District 19 Director, Carla Castilla, will announce her candidacy for Ventura County’s 3rd District Supervisorial seat today.  She will be running for the seat long time Supervisor, Kathy Long, is vacating in 2016.

“Our community deserves continued effective and balanced representation in Ventura County’s 3rd district,” Castilla said. “We need someone who has the experience, knowledge, and passion to fight for more jobs, more resources, and a safer community.”

Carla Castilla was born and raised in Ventura County by hardworking immigrant parents. That instilled work ethic led her to be the first in her family to attend college and graduate from UCLA. Carla has worked in the White House, served her community as an aide to Congresswoman Lois Capps, and currently serves as district director for State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson.

“I am proud to endorse Carla Castilla for Ventura County Supervisor,” said Congresswoman Lois Capps. “Carla’s personal and professional roots run deep in Ventura County and she truly understands what matters most to hard-working families. I have always been impressed by her compassion for others and her dedication to her local community, which is why I believe she will do an excellent job representing the residents of the 3rd District.”

“Carla’s hard work and leadership will be invaluable to continuing a culture of learning and support for educators who will train the workforce of the future,” said Former Ventura County Superintendent of Schools and Governing Board member of the Hueneme School District, Dr. Charles Weis. “In these challenging times we need a leader who will continue working for the needs of Ventura County residents and Carla is that leader.”

“Carla’s experience and passion for service makes her a qualified candidate who will make a difference in our community,” said Civic Leader, Henry “Hank” Lacayo. “Her leadership and contributions would be a great benefit to the county of Ventura and District 3.”

Carla brings federal, state, and local experience in over 15 years of diverse public service. Carla is a former appointee to the Ventura County Workforce Investment Board and has been actively involved with local non-profit and civic groups focusing on education, civic engagement, and empowerment of women. Carla currently resides in Camarillo where she is happily married and looking forward to starting her own family.

Carla is a candidate for Ventura County’s 3rd Supervisorial District, comprised of Camarillo, Port Hueneme, Southeast Oxnard, East Oxnard Plain, Santa Paula, Fillmore, Piru, East Lockwood Valley, and Eastern Portion of Naval Base Ventura County Port Hueneme.
