Ventura County Sheriff – – Incident Press Release
On 07/26/2020, at approximately 6:06 AM, deputies at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility discovered that Jared Ross was experiencing a medical emergency in his cell. Deputies immediately began to render aid and summoned jail medical staff. Ventura City Fire and American Medical Response personnel responded to provide more advanced care. Ultimately, Mr. Ross was pronounced deceased at 6:50 AM.
The cause of death is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau, pending autopsy results from the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. As a matter of policy, the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau investigates the causes of all inmate deaths.
