Sheriff makes arrest in January Oak View bicycle bank robbery
Identified as Juan Barbosa
On 01-30-2015, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a bank robbery that had occurred at Rabobank at 410 N. Ventura Avenue Oak View. The bank teller reported one male suspect entered the bank and used a note to demand money. The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect left the bank on a black BMX type bicycle and was last seen riding into the Larmier residential area.
Bank surveillance cameras captured the suspect on video and assisted investigators with identifying the suspect. The suspect was identified as 50 year old Juan Barbosa from Ventura.
On 02-20-2015, members of the Sheriff’s Gang Unit and the Major Crimes Bureau served a search warrant at Barbosa’s residence. Barbosa was arrested for firearm and drug related offenses. Barbosa remained in custody at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
On 03-20-2015, investigators arrested Barbosa at the jail for the bank robbery.
