    Shooting Incident, Suspect Arrested

    News Release

On October 12, 2022 at approximately 10:02 A.M., the Oxnard Police Department’s Emergency Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting a possible fall victim in the front yard of a residence in the 100 block of Featherstone Street.

Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined the victim, a 41-year-old male Oxnard resident, was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to investigate. While on scene, initial information was provided that the suspect was inside of the residence. This was later found to be inaccurate. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was admitted in critical but stable condition.

Investigators with the Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspect and victim were roommates. The suspect, who was at the residence, confronted the victim in the driveway of their residence when the victim arrived home and immediately shot the victim multiple times while he was seated in his vehicle.

The suspect, who is identified as 31-year-old Alfredo Bautista Delacruz, then fled the residence in a vehicle. Investigators later located Delacruz and arrested him for attempted murder. Delacruz was later transported to the Ventura County Jail.

No further information is available at this time. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Detective Jaime Miranda at 805-385-7547 or [email protected].
