Shots Fired During Attempted Robbery of T.O. Jewelry Store: Middle School on brief lockdown
healing arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>On April 12, 2016, at about 1:15 pm, deputies responded to a call of a “Shots Fired” in the Oak Brook Shopping Plaza in the 2000 block of East Avenida De Los Arboles, Thousand Oaks, CA.. When deputies arrived, they learned that an attempted robbery had occurred at Albert’s Jewelry Store. The suspect(s) fled the scene prior to the arrival of the deputies.
The investigation revealed an unknown suspect(s) entered the store and an exchange of gunfire occurred with a store employee inside the store. The exchange may have resulted in an injury to the suspect.
Investigators are actively working on obtaining details of what happened inside the store. No customers were inside the store at the time and none of the employees were injured during the incident. The investigation revealed the suspect(s) fled the scene in a newer model dark color luxury vehicle, possibly a Jaguar.
Out of an abundance of caution, Los Cerritos Middle School was briefly placed in lockdown while the neighborhood near the incident was searched.
