Sierra Club to Host Santa Clara River Parkway Symposium

symptoms arial, shop sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>On Saturday, September 24 Sierra Club and Public Lands Alliance Network are co-hosting a 1-day symposium on the past, present, and future of the Santa Clara River Parkway.  The ‘Point Me to the Parkway’ event will feature speakers and exhibits about why the project was conceived, what is currently being done, and how the Parkway may benefit the community.   “Most people don’t know a Santa Clara River Parkway is underway,” explains Nina Danza, the Sierra Club conference organizer, “so we saw a need to educate and inform the general public of the rich resource in our midst.”

The Santa Clara River is the largest, mostly natural river ecosystem remaining in Southern California and it is home to dozens of endangered and threatened plant and animal species.  The River contains some of the last 3-5% riparian habitat left in the state.  The Parkway project was established to “conserve and restore aquatic and riparian habitat for native species” as well as “provide public access and environmental education”.

The symposium is open to the public and will be held from 8am-3pm at the Santa Paula Community Center (530 W. Main Street, Santa Paula).  A $5 donation is requested, but not required, for entry.  Spanish translation will be provided.  An optional lunch (fee extra) and site tour will be offered.

O.K., giving the Sierra Club a most generous acessment of their goals and objectives, may I be nobel, although ignorant.

Politicians, on the other hand, use them by pretending to care about their delusional causes in order to get (re) elected.
