    Simi Man Arrested for Attempted Murder | Shooting Occurs During Verbal Dispute

    On 6-27-2021 at about 12:53 AM, SVPD Patrol officers responded to a radio call of a shooting that just occurred in the 1000 block of Currier Ave.  The officers contacted the victims in the area and confirmed that a known suspect, Eric Loniero, fired one round from a handgun in their direction.  Officers responded to the suspect’s residence and were able to detain him without incident.

    After conducting their investigation, officers were able to determine that the victims showed up at the suspect’s residence to contact him regarding an ongoing dispute.  The suspect exited his residence allegedly armed with a handgun and threatened to shoot the subjects if they came on to his property.  After a verbal argument between the parties, the subjects were walking back to their vehicle when the suspect allegedly fired one round from the handgun in their direction.  

    Eric Loniero, 24 years old, was later arrested and booked at Ventura County Main Jail for 664/ 187 PC (Attempted murder) and 245 PC (Assault with a Deadly Weapon).

    The handgun was recovered at the scene.
