Simi Police Investigate Series of Residential Burglaries

mind arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>The Simi Valley Police Department would like to alert residents of a recent series of residential burglaries that appear to be related and is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect(s). There have been several incidents over the past few months; however, there has recently been an increase in break-ins, in the north and north east sections of the city. These crimes occur at various times of the day, although they have recently been happening in the late evening hours. There have been occasions when the suspect(s) entered occupied homes. It appeared that the suspect(s) were unaware that the victims were home and fled the residence without any confrontation. On one such occurrence the suspect appeared to be a black, male adult wearing a hoodie style sweatshirt. It appears as though the suspect(s) are targeting residences that appear to be unoccupied. Examples include locations without any lights on or vehicles in driveways.

Residents are reminded to call the Police Department immediately if they notice any suspicious persons or activity in their neighborhoods. You should remain alert at all times and ensure that you keep your residence secure and the exterior well lit, even when you are at home.

Simi Valley’s surrounding communities have experienced similar incidents. It is a common practice for burglary suspects to knock on the front door of a potential victim’s residence in an attempt to confirm if anyone is home. If you notice suspicious subjects or solicitors in your area going door to door, call the police and provide a detailed description of the subjects and their activity.

The Police Department understands that members of the public are occasionally made aware of information related to criminal activity within the city. Some of this information is accurate while other portions are inaccurate and speculative. Simi Valley Police Department Detectives are investigating all leads related to these burglaries. Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call Detective Collett 805-583-6968.

I don’t know about Simi Valley, but Thousand oaks has a Volunteer Police service that will check your home out, daily, when you are out of town. All you need to do is call them and give them some particulars.

You can contact them at (805) 449-2760
