Simi Valley, Calif. – 1 person arrested for DUI and 16 citations issued, 12 of them for driving without a licensed, while conducting a DUI checkpoint on 9-12-20.
The checkpoint was held at First Street and Easy Street from 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
As businesses continue to reopen, including bars and restaurants, impaired driving remains a top traffic safety concern.
Simi Valley Police Department will hold another DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint in the next couple of weeks.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
