For The Troops (FTT) is sponsoring its 9th Annual Christmas Card Signing & Holiday Care Packages” affair on Saturday November 12th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at 2878 Cochran Avenue, Simi Valley (next to Weight Watchers- this event is not held at our headquarters.) Light refreshments will be served. Everyone is invited to this Family Affair (all ages) are encouraged to stop by and join in signing Holiday Cards to be included in our “We Care” packages being shipped to our Troops in Afghanistan, Korea, Syria and Iraq. You are welcome to bring your own cards or blank ones to be included in each package. We encourage letters and notes of appreciation and cheer. Our Troops look forward to this, support every year. When we show We Care! .
For The Troops is also asking for letters of support from individuals, especially children to be included in our “We Care” packages. Letter Writing Guidelines can be found on the website at www.ForTheTroops.org.
“Our troops make so many tremendous sacrifices in the name of protecting our freedom, and among the most significant of those sacrifices is spending long periods of time away from loved ones—especially during the holiday season,” said Paula Cornell, Founder and President of for the Troops.
“Throughout the years I’ve been proud to see so many people from throughout Simi Valley and the Ventura come to send greetings to soldiers during the holidays. I’m hoping that once again this year we can all join the spirit of the season and spread cheer to the brave men and women who have given so much to our country. The Christmas card signing is our most joyful event every year. We are so grateful to our many generous supporters that help make it possible for us to continue our work, supporting our Heroes To date we have shipped over 158,000 “We Care” packages ” Cornell responds.
For The Troops is in need of donations for their “We Care” packages. All supplies are at a low level. Requested items can be found on website “Wish List”. Items most requested are baby wipes, hot sauce, applesauce and puddings, snacks, candy, socks, coffee, tea, water flavors packets, small cans tuna, crackers, gum, lip balm, batteries, cotton swabs, beef jerky, CD’s, DVD’s and magazines. We are also asking for any left over Halloween candy to stuff the boxes full. All monetary donations will be used to send packages to American freedom fighters and to cover the associated operational costs. Any contribution is helpful and cherished as the monthly needs exceed $16,000 for shipping.
