Simi Valley: Citizen Observes Their Stolen Vehicle, Contacts Police

On 6-11 at about 8:50 AM, a Simi Valley citizen saw an unknown male subject driving her vehicle in the area of Tapo Cyn. Rd. and the 118 freeway.  She contacted SVPD and followed the vehicle for a short distance until responding officers arrived.  The officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and took the suspect into custody without incident. 

At the conclusion of the investigation, the officers determined the suspect was in possession of the vehicle without consent from the registered owner, had property which indicated he was involved in identity theft and had a large amount of marijuana. 

The suspect, identified as Shane Nimitz, a 38 year old Simi Valley resident was arrest for violation of 10851 VC, 530.5 PC and 11357(b)(2) H&S.  He was booked at VCMJ.
