October 27th, Tuesday night at about 7:00 pm, a 15 year-old male was riding a hoverboard in the area of Sandlewood Drive and Kuehner Drive when a vehicle stopped across the street. A male adult exited the vehicle, brandished a knife, and demanded the skateboard. The juvenile complied and the suspect fled the area in the vehicle, occupied by two other males.
A citizen who witnessed the crime followed the suspect vehicle to the residential area of Calle La Sombra where the suspects parked. The witness then returned to the area of the crime and contacted Officers who had responded. The witness then led Officers back to the area where the vehicle was parked.
Members of the Department’s Gang Unit were assisting, and recognized that a validated Simi Valley gang member lived nearby where the vehicle was parked. Officers contacted three subjects at the known location and found that one of the subjects matched the description of the suspect that had been provided by the victim.
The primary suspect was positively identified and during the ensuing investigation two of the three suspects confessed to their involvement in the robbery.
All three suspects were arrested without incident and booked at the East County Jail for 211 PC Robbery and186.22 PC, Criminal Street Gang Activity. The victim was not injured.
