Simi Valley | Home break-in ends with arrest after foot pursuit

Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release

On Monday August 10 at about 10:30 am, a Simi Valley resident called the Simi Valley Police Department to say an unknown male had just entered his house without permission (2700 block of Avenida Simi). Officers arrived in the area and observed 20 year old Simi Valley resident David Becerra checking vehicle door handles nearby. Becerra was contacted, detained and asked for his identifying information. Becerra verbally provided false information and while the officer researched the matter, Becerra fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, an off-duty Simi Valley Police Detective who was in the area observed the chase and assisted with capturing Becerra a short distance away.

Becerra was taken into custody and later booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for Trespassing, Resisting Arrest, Providing False Information to a Police Officer, and Vehicle Tampering.
