Simi Valley Police and Red Robin Raise $3200 for Special Olympics Athletes

On Thursday October 22, 2015, Officers and Volunteers from the Simi Valley Police Department participated in a Nationwide Red Robin Restaurants Tip-A-Cop fundraiser benefitting the Special Olympics. Simi Valley Police Officers and members of the Department’s Volunteer Program assisted by Special Olympics athletes helped wait tables between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm. The Red Robin Restaurants in Thousand Oaks and Ventura also participated, but for the second year in a row, the Simi Valley Police Department led Ventura County in donations earning over $3200 over the four hour dinner service. The Department would like to thank all the members of the community who came out to support this worthy cause and helped the Simi Valley Police Department lead the County for the second year in a row.

Each year, the Simi Valley Police Department hosts two Tip-A-Cop events, one at Yolanda’s Mexican Restaurant and the second at Red Robin. Combined donations for both events in Simi Valley this year totaled $6,900 in charitable donations for the Ventura County Special Olympics Foundation. Thanks again to the community and the Officers and Volunteers of the Simi Valley Police Department for helping to support these special athletes and their families.
