Simi Valley Police arrest woman for selling heroin

On September 30, 2014 members of the Simi Valley Police Department’s Special Operations Unit completed an investigation into the sales of heroin in the City Of Simi Valley. Detectives from the Special Investigation Section had received information that Kristy Parks, 22 yrs old, from Simi Valley, was selling heroin to Simi Valley residents.

Narcotics Detectives first contacted Parks when conducting another investigation of Heroin sales during which they arrested Alex Alvarado, On May 21, 2014. When Alvarado was arrested, Detectives located 20 grams of heroin with a street value of approximately $2,000, 1/8 oz of methamphetamine, $2,800 cash and other items consistent with sales of illegal narcotics. On May 28, 2014, Alvarado was released from custody after posting bail and was scheduled to appear in court on June 4, 2014. On June 6, 2014, Detectives from the Simi Valley Police Department’s Special Investigations Section received information that Alvarado failed to appear for his court date and a warrant had been issued for his arrest. Detectives went to Alvarado’s residence in the 4100 Block of Florence Street where they located and arrested Alvarado. Parks was Alvarado’s girlfriend at the time and was present during both arrests. But there was no evidence uncovered to support that she was involved in the sales or heroin when the Alvarado case was closed. Alvarado and Parks were in the process of packing their belongings with the intent to flee the area. Alvarado pled guilty to Possession of a controlled substance for sale (heroin) and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and is currently serving a two year sentence in the Ventura County Jail.

The current investigation led to Parks being contacted by members of the Special Enforcement Section on Tapo Street near Barnard, where she was arrested for 11352 H&S, possession of heroin for sale and for sales of heroin. At the time of her arrest, she was in possession of 10 baggies of heroin totaling approximately 4 grams, individually packaged for sale.

Parks was booked at the Ventura County Mail Jail in Ventura and held in lieu of $50,000.00 bail. She is scheduled to appear in Ventura Superior Court on October 2, 2014
