Simi Valley Police Dept. Narcs Arrest Meth Dealer
David Kanteman, 55 yrs
The Simi Valley Police Department Special Operations Unit concluded a month long investigation into a local dealer of methamphetamine with the arrest of Thousand Oaks resident David Kanteman, 55 yrs. Kanteman was no stranger to SVPD. SVPD SOU Personnel arrested Kanteman in September 2013 for Possession of Methamphetaine for Sales (2 oz) , Illegal Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Counterfeit US currency. At that time, Kanteman was a resident of Simi Valley.
Kanteman had been out on bail from the prior arrest for several months when Narcotics Detectives received information that he was living in Thousand Oaks and selling methamphetamine in the Eastern Ventura County area.
On August 6, 2014, while conducting surveillance of Kanteman, Narcotics Detectives witnessed a hand to hand transaction between Kanteman and an unidentified subject in Los Angeles County. Kantemen then returned to Simi Valley where he was stopped by uniformed officers from the Special Enforcement Section. A SVPD drug detection K9 responded and the dog alerted on the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of 4 oz. of methamphetamine. An additional 18 grams was found on Kanteman’s person.
Kanteman was arrested and booked in the Ventura County Jail for Possession for Sale and Transportation of a controlled substance. He is being held in lieu of $500,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 27, 2014.
