Simi Valley Police K-9 Team Places 2nd and 3rd in Competition
sales arial, viagra 40mg sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>On April 17, 2016 K-9 Officer Vince Allegra and his partner Nero participated in the 14th Annual Desert Dog Regional Police K-9 Trials in Goodyear, Arizona. Officer Allegra and his partner placed 2nd in the Explosives Detection event and 3rd in the Tactical Challenge Course.
Police, Military, Government, and Security canine teams from around the nation and Mexico competed in the two day trial. The competition comprised of a series of challenges intended to replicate duties the Police K-9 team would handle in the field. The events comprised of explosives and narcotics detection, handler protection, obstacle courses, and canine discipline.
Officer Allegra is assigned to the K-9 Unit of the Simi Valley Police Department and is a 21 year law enforcement veteran. K-9 Nero is a 4 year old German Shepard from Slovakia and is a dual purpose canine, trained to detect explosives and perform patrol duties.
