On Thursday evening, ed April 30, 2015, at approximately 7:00 PM, Simi Valley Police Officers responded to a disturbance call in the 2900 block of Deacon St. There were reports of shots fired at the location.  When officers located an unconscious male subject who was suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses identified a male suspect at the scene who was determined to be the shooter. The suspect was identified as Cary Swaine, 50 years, of Simi Valley. Swaine was taken into custody without incident and a firearm was recovered at the scene. Swaine was booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for 187 P.C. / Murder.

The identity of the victim will be released at a later date by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. The motive for the shooting is under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Detective Dan Swanson at (805) 583-6969.
