Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release
On November 17, 2020, at approximately 6pm, the Simi Valley Police Department responded to the area of Honey Pine Ct. and Sequoia Ave. reference a disturbance in progress. The reporting party advised that there was a male and female screaming at each other in a vehicle and that the male subject may have put his hands on the female and had a bat. As officers arrived to the scene of the possible domestic, they observed the suspect and nearby residents wrestling over the bat. When the officers attempted to detain the suspect, he fled from them and ran into oncoming vehicle traffic on Sequoia Ave. The officers were subsequently able to detain the suspect with the use of a taser.
Upon further investigation, the officers learned that during the altercation, the suspect attempted to enter someone else’s vehicle and in the process damage it. Witnesses to the disturbance attempted to intervene and stop the suspect. In doing so, the suspect struck one of the witnesses with a metal object. The suspect was identified as Arnold Sanders 20 years old from Simi Valley. Sanders was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Main Jail for Assault with a deadly weapon, felony vandalism, and resisting arrest.
