Simi Valley | Two Suspects Arrested for Grand Theft, Stolen Vehicle also Recovered

Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release

On 06-26-21 at about 8:30 PM, SVPD patrol officers responded to a business located in the 400 block of W. Los Angeles Ave. for an alarm call.  It was determined that the alarm was signalling a possible theft of gasoline from the private gas pumps on site.  When officers arrived they located two suspects (one male, one female) pumping gas into several containers inside a box truck.  The officers detained the two suspects without incident.  After further investigation, the officers were able to determine that the two suspects were attempting to steal about 800 gallons of diesel fuel.  They also confirmed that the box truck was a reported stolen vehicle.  The male suspect was also in possession of drug paraphernalia.  The two suspects (listed below) were arrested and later booked at Ventura County Main Jail:

Jose Garibu, 25 year old Los Angeles resident booked for Grand Theft, Possession of Stolen Vehicle, Conspiracy, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Sarah Espiritu, 20 year old Los Angeles resident booked for Grand Theft, Possession of Stolen Vehicle and Conspiracy.
