Smart Growth: Stupid policy and your property rights
‘Smart growth’ is a stupid policy. It assumes that man-kind is a blight to the planet and that we either have to encourage or, if need be, force people to live in dense urban cores. Most people don’t want to live in dense urban cores. They want the American dream. It’s time we restore a vision of abundance, not scarcity. We can now see the Left’s path only leads to water shortages, sky-rocketing energy costs, and declining quality of life for ourselves and our children.
Smart growth is pack and stack high density development: removing people from rural and suburban settings for more multi-use buildings in the urban core. Public transit is pushed, along with bike lanes and reduction in roadways, the automobile considered a viable alternative. It diminishes your rights when it comes to your own private property, down zoning your uses and making single family homes unsustainable.
