Smithsonian to Fully Reopen Museums

We are pleased to share that the Smithsonian will reopen 10 more of our museums throughout the summer, marking a full reopening of all Smithsonian museums by the end of August 2021. You can view the full schedule below.

All locations will continue to follow added health and safety measures, including face coverings and social distancing procedures, and some museum experiences like cafes and theaters may remain closed at this time. You can learn more about our commitment to health and safety, as well as further details about reopening, at si.edu/visit.

In addition, several museums will require timed visitor passes for entry. Timed passes will be available shortly before each museum’s scheduled reopening date.

• National Museum of Natural History – Friday, June 18

• National Museum of the American Indian in New York City – Wednesday, June 23 No timed-entry passes required

• National Museum of African Art – Friday, July 16

• National Museum of Asian Art Freer Gallery – Friday, July 16

• National Air and Space Museum – Friday, July 30

• Smithsonian Institution Building (the “Castle”) – Friday, July 30

• Anacostia Community Museum – Friday, Aug. 6 No timed-entry passes required

• Hirshhorn Museum – Friday, Aug. 20
