Somis Woman Goes Missing — Search Continues
Ventura County Sheriff’s Department – Incident Press Release
A 76-year-old Somis woman is being considered missing at risk after leaving her home Sunday afternoon for a walk.
Judith “Judy” Wurtz was last seen by her family on Sunday, November 27, 2016 on their property in the 5200 block of Faircrest Lane around 1:30 p.m. Judy is an avid hiker and typically stays near her home. Judy suffers from dementia, but is otherwise in good health.
Judy’s family reported her missing to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday around 6:00 p.m. after they had conducted their own extensive search on their property and known walking routes. Judy is 5’8” tall, weighs 150 pounds, and has grey hair and brown eyes. Judy was last seen wearing a long sleeved denim shirt and jeans. She was not carrying a telephone.
Since Judy was first reported missing to the Sheriff’s Office, numerous resources have been brought into the area to search for Judy. On the ground, patrol deputies, patrol K9’s, search & rescue personnel and bloodhounds have covered a three-mile radius of the rural agricultural and residential areas of Somis. The Sheriff’s Aviation Unit and Unmanned Aerial System have searched from the sky during the evening and daylight hours. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services issued a VC Alert message to residents in the Somis, Camarillo, Saticoy, and Moorpark area.
Temperatures are expected to dip down into the 40’s again tonight and it is important she is found quickly. If you see Judy or believe you may have seen her in the area, please call the Sheriff’s Dispatch Center at (805) 654-9511 or dial 9-1-1.
