Southeast Ventura County YMCA Annual Support Campaign in Full Swing
The Southeast Ventura County YMCA, with four branches serving communities in eastern Ventura County, Westlake Village, Oak Park and Agoura Hills, is holding its annual fundraising campaign. The campaign, which runs through mid-March, hopes to raise $500,000 that will go towards making local YMCA programs and memberships available to those in financial need and to enhance YMCA youth and adult programs. The nonprofit charitable organization serves more than 25,000 of residents annually.
The four YMCA branches are Triunfo YMCA (serving Agoura Hills, Westlake Village and Oak Park) Conejo Valley YMCA (serving Thousand Oaks, Moorpark and the Santa Rosa Valley), Simi Valley Family YMCA (serving Simi Valley) and Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park (serving Newbury Park including Dos Vientos Ranch).
“The YMCA is a unique organization,” says Ronnie Stone, YMCA CEO. “One hundred percent of what we raise during the campaign goes back into the community as program subsidies and financial assistance. Everyone can participate in our programs regardless of their ability to pay. We offer healthy and wholesome activities for kids, families and adults.”
Annual fundraising goals are based on community need. Last year, branches of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA provided financial assistance to 6,316 children and adults. Funds raised also help support camps, preschool, youth sports, teen programs, families programs and healthy living classes.
Any size gift is appreciated. A gift of $125 provides seven swim lessons for three kids, giving them the gift of learning water safety and confidence; $250 makes it possible for a child to attend a week of summer camp; $500 enables a child to attend a YMCA preschool or afterschool program for a month; and $1,000 helps a teen participate in a YMCA leadership programs such as Youth & Government and Model United Nations.
“The Y has been part of the community since 1964,” says Stone. “We are truly thankful for the generosity of our donors. Only with their help can we provide so many positive youth, family and adult programs that can literally be life-changing.”
Over 170 YMCA volunteers are contacting individuals, businesses and foundations during the campaign to request donations.
