St. John’s Integrated Breast Center Hosts 6th Annual Breast Symposium: Reconstructing Lives–October 3rd

Symposium is FREE and open to the public

The St. John’s Integrated Breast Center (IBC) is kicking off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with its 6th Annual Breast Symposium. This year’s Reconstructing Lives symposium will take place on Saturday, October 3 at Spanish Hills Country Club.

“The rate of women in Ventura County diagnosed with breast cancer is one of the highest in California,” said Alicia Zaragoza, Oncology nurse navigator of the St. John’s IBC. “We are proud to host the symposium for a sixth year in a row.

The half-day symposium begins at 9 a.m. (registration and exhibits open at 8:30 a.m.) and will feature presentations by St. John’s physicians on the latest advancements in prevention, diagnosis and treatments for breast cancer.

“This year’s theme of Reconstructing Lives addresses the fact that cancer treatment is more than just treating a disease but it’s treating the whole person during and post treatment when they are putting the pieces of life back together,” said Lynn Jeffers, MD, medical director of the St. John’s IBC.

The symposium will include two multidisciplinary physician panels as well as information on mindfulness, healthy eating, survivorship and risk management. Each panel will have a question and answer period and is designed to be interactive.

Featured speakers include:
Lisa Babashoff, MD, FACS – General Surgeon Katie Burnham, PA-C – Genetics Specialist
Lynn Jeffers, MD – Plastic Surgeon & Medical Director, Integrated Breast Center Henry Montes, MD – Radiation Oncologist
