    St. John’s Regional Medical Center to Host Third Annual Cardiac Symposium

    St. John’s Regional Medical Center (SJRMC), a Dignity Health hospital, is pleased to host the 3nd Annual Cardiac Symposium: Heart Disease Meets Stroke. Community members are invited to meet the region’s top cardiac and stroke specialists and learn about advances in cardiac and stroke care.

    This heart and stroke event will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Healing Garden and Conference Center, located on the lower level of
    St. John’s Regional Medical Center campus (1600 N. Rose Ave., Oxnard).

    The event will feature:

    • Informational presentations by St. John’s cardiac and neuro expert physicians:
      • Heidar Arjomand-Fard, MD – Medical Director of Structural Heart Disease Interventions
      • Megan Mescher-Cox, DO – Internal Medicine
      • Mani Nezhad, MD – Medical Director of Stroke Program at St. John’s Hospitals
      • Akinwunmi Oni-Orisan, MD – Director of the Neurointerventional Program at St. John’s Regional Medical Center
      • Richard Rothschild, MD – Medical Director of St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital’s Catheterization Lab
    • Cardiac catheterization lab and Biplane suite tours
    • Blood pressure and bone density screenings

    St. John’s Heart and Vascular Institute is a nationally recognized leader in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. The cardiac program was recently honored with the 2019 Five-Star Coronary Intervention Excellence AwardTM and the 2019 America’s 100 Best Coronary InterventionTM by Healthgrades. St. John’s certified primary stroke center provides the latest in cardiac diagnostic procedures and world-class clinical research trials. The comprehensive cardiac program features: emergency heart care, various treatments for heart disease including non-invasive cardiology services, surgical heart and vascular interventions, electrophysiology treatments, beating heart surgery, minimally invasive valve repair/replacement, and a dedicated outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program.

    for the third consecutive year, and earned a spot on the Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. The comprehensive stroke program features: immediate access to stroke care neurologists within minutes of arrival in our emergency department, a dedicated team composed of stroke neurologist, neurosurgeons, neurointerventionalists, neurocritical care specialists, neuroradiologists, anesthesiologists, and stroke nurse practitioners, an acute stroke team, quick turnaround times for CT scans and lab results to improve timeliness of treatment.
