Port Hueneme Police Department – Incident Press Release
On July 17, 2020 at approximately 1:30 AM the Port Hueneme Police Department was notified by St. John’s Hospital staff regarding a stabbing victim that arrived in the Emergency Room.
The victim advised investigating officers that he was sleeping in a vehicle on Hemlock Street near Seaside Drive when we he was woken up by a male subject later identified as Jesus Sandoval (2/26/02). Sandoval gained entry into the victim’s vehicle and began beating him. Sandoval then pulled the victim out of the vehicle and continued to assault him on the ground. During the attack, Sandoval pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim one time in his lower back. Sandoval then fled the scene.
Officers were patrolling the area and within a short time they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2600 block of Victoria Avenue. While contacting the occupants, Officers observed a semi-automatic handgun inside the vehicle. The occupants were all detained and a search of the vehicle was conducted. A loaded 9mm, semi-automatic handgun was found next to a knife with blood on it. Officers arrested the four occupants of the vehicle for various charges including:
25850 (a) P.C Possession of a loaded firearm
11377 (A) H&S Possession of a Controlled Substance 466 P.C. Possession of Burglary Tools
530.5 P.C. Possession of Personal information/Credit Cards of Others 11364 (A) H&S Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
14601.1 V.C Driving on a Suspended License.
Sandoval was subsequently charged with 25850(a) P.C. Possession of a Loaded Firearm, and 245(a)(1) P.C. Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Sandoval was booked into Ventura County Jail.
The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was released from the hospital after receiving treatment.
