Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release
Update: Ventura PD Detectives identified Andrew Renteria as the suspect in this crime. On 08/30/2019 at approximately 1100 hrs., a VPD patrol Officer located Renteria in the 4800 Block of Telephone Rd. and took him into custody. Renteria was arrested for 245 (a)(1) PC, Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
On August 25th at 9 PM, officers responded to a report of a subject asking residents to call for help in the 2200 block of Vista Del Mar Dr. Officers, along with Ventura City Fire and AMR personnel arrived on scene and found the victim, later identified as a 33-year-old male, suffering from life threatening stab wounds to his torso. He was immediately transported to VCMC for treatment of his injuries. The victim was admitted to the hospital and his current condition is not known.
During the investigation, officers learned that the suspect, described as a Hispanic Male in 30’s, is possibly not known to the victim and both were in street on Vista Del Mar Dr. when they got into a physical alteration. The suspect stabbed the victim, who went to a nearby residence to ask for help. The suspect fled the area on foot and was not located.
This is an ongoing investigation and there is no additional information to be released at this time. An additional press release will be sent out when the information is available.
