State Route 126 Closures for Road Work — Short Week

Evening Closures on State Route 126 in Piru for Pavement Work

At least one lane will remain open in both directions at all times

PIRU– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced plans to close a lane in both directions of State Route 126 (Santa Paula Freeway) next week for road paving and guardrail installation work.

On Monday, November 19 and Tuesday, November 20, the following lane closures will be in place in the unincorporated area of Piru:

Evening Closures 7 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Eastbound:

  • One lane from Hopper Canyon Rd. to Ventura-Los Angeles County line.

Westbound:

  • One lane from Ventura-Los Angeles County line to Hopper Canyon Rd.

Some closures may start and end later. All closures are weather permitting and subject to change. Local city streets may be closed to allow crews to pave the highway.  

Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes or avoid the area. Additionally, motorists can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap.

The closures are part of a road repaving project that stretches from the Ventura-Los Angeles County Line to Haun Creek. Granite Construction Co. of Santa Barbara, CA is the contractor.

Caltrans reminds drivers to be “Work Zone Alert” and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

Overnight Full Closures of State Route 126 in Ventura for Paving Operation

VENTURA– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced plans to fully close segments of State Route 126 (SR-126) next week for road paving operations in the city of Ventura.

On Monday, November 19 and Tuesday, November 20, the following closures of SR-126 will be in place in the city of Ventura between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

Eastbound:

  • Full closure from Kimball Rd. to Wells Rd.
  • Full closure from Wells Rd. to Briggs Rd.   
  • Kimball Rd., Wells Rd., and Briggs Rd. on and off-ramps

Westbound

  • Full closure from Briggs Rd. to Wells Rd.
  • Full closure from Wells Rd. to Kimball Rd.
  • Briggs Rd., Wells Rd., Kimball Rd., and Victoria Ave. on and off-ramps.

Closures may start and end later. All closures are weather permitting and subject to change.

Ramps will not be closed consecutively. A signed detour will be posted for motorists who need to continue their commute on SR-126. Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes or avoid the area. Additionally, motorists can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap.

The closures are part of a road paving project on SR-126 that stretches from US-101 to Haun Creek Bridge. C.A. Rasmussen Inc. of Valencia, CA is the contractor.
