Stolen firearm from Oak Park residential burglary located in Oxnard residence

On November 15, 2017, Thousand Oaks Patrol deputies responded to a residential burglary in the 5000 block of Pesto Way, unincorporated area of Oak Park. During the initial investigation, it was determined a semi-automatic handgun was stolen from a vehicle parked in the garage of the residence.

Detectives from the East County Investigation Bureau took over the investigation and identified Stephen Sujata and Jeremy Rentch as possible suspects in the burglary. Detectives were able to establish both suspects lived in the 1000 block of Hedera Lane, City of Oxnard, and obtained a search warrant for the residence. On 11-21-2017, detectives served the search warrant and were able to recover the stolen firearm. In addition, detectives recovered ammunition, approximately 1.6 grams of cocaine, 164 Xanax pills and 2 ecstasy pills.

Stephen Sujata was arrested and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for PC 459 / burglary, PC 487(d)(2) / grand theft of a firearm, HS 11550(a) / being under the influence of a controlled substance, HS 11370.1(a) / possession of a controlled substance while armed, HS 11375(b)(1) / possession of a controlled substance for sale, and HS 11377(a) / possession of a controlled substance.

Jeremy Rentch was arrested and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for PC 487(d)(2) / Grand theft of a firearm, HS 11370.1(a) / Possession of a controlled substance while armed, HS 11375(b)(1) / Possession of a controlled substance for sale, and HS 11377(a) / Possession of a controlled substance.
