Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release
On May 1, 2021, Simi Valley Police Department Officers were alerted by LoJack tracking systems in their Police vehicles that a stolen vehicle was in the area. They tracked and located the stolen vehicle, a black Honda coupe. However, the driver refused to stop and SVPD Officers pursued the vehicle from Simi Valley to Chatsworth.
The driver crashed the stolen vehicle near the intersection of Cozycroft Ave and Tribune St, and fled into the neighborhood. With the assistance of the Los Angeles Police Department, SVPD Officers located the suspect and arrested him for Vehicle Theft, Felony Evading, and Resisting Arrest. The suspect was identified as Lawrence Zelenay, a 36 year old male resident of Simi Valley. He was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail.
