    Stolen Vehicle Recovered, Vehicle Pursuit, and Driver Arrested

    On Tuesday, May 7, 2019 the Santa Paula Police Department received an activation signal on the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System, which SPPD uses to assist in locating vehicles equipped with the LoJack devices.Francisco Paz

    At approximately 7:10 PM, officers received a LoJack signal in the area of Beckwith St. and Telegraph Rd, where officers searched, but were unsuccessful in locating the vehicle. Officers set up surveillance in the area and at approximately 7:26 PM the vehicle was observed exiting Beckwith St. and began travelling east on Telegraph Rd. The vehicle made a right turn on Peck Rd and a traffic stop was attempted. The vehicle failed to stop and went through a red light at Peck Rd and Faulkner Rd. The vehicle entered the east bound 126 freeway and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle came to a stop on the 10th Street on ramp of the 126 Freeway. The suspect refused to comply with officer’s orders and a Santa Paula Police canine was deployed, assisting the officers in taking the suspect, Francisco Paz (36) of Santa Paula, into custody.

    Francisco Paz was placed under arrest and taken to the Santa Paula Hospital Emergency Room for treatment and medical clearance. Mr. Paz was charged with 10851 VC, 2800.1 VC, 148(a)(1) PC and an Outstanding Misdemeanor Arrest Warrant for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Paz was later transported to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Main Jail.
