Strong Armed Robbery of 15 year old in Ventura

On February 1st at 8 AM, the Ventura Police Department Command Center received a call from a parent of a 15- year-old male, reporting that his son was the victim of a robbery.

The investigation revealed that between 0800-0815 hours this morning, the victim was walking to school alone in the west alleyway of the 200 block of Coronado St., when he was approached by the suspect, described as being a vagrant, who asked him for money. As the victim starting looking for money to retrieve in his backpack, the suspect began punching him. When the victim held up his arms to block the punches, the suspect grabbed the victim’s backpack and started forcefully pulling it away from the victim. After a brief struggle, the suspect was able to take the backpack. The suspect was last seen fleeing northbound in the alley with the victim’s black Jansport backpack.

The victim did not require any medical attention, although sustained some minor bruising from the altercation.

Suspect: White or Hispanic Male, 40 years, wearing a grey jacket, “dirty” khaki cargo pants, black boots
