Suspect arrested for July Burglary in Camarillo Heights

On 08-09-17, detectives from the Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail arrested the above listed suspect for a residential burglary, which occurred in the Camarillo Heights/ the 800 Block Lemon Drive, Camarillo.

On 07-27-17, Camarillo patrol deputies responded to a burglary where a female suspect entered an open residential garage and stole property. An alert witness observed the suspicious activity and reported it to the homeowner, who confirmed property was stolen from their garage. The witness provided a description as well as a partial license plate to responding patrol deputies.

Camarillo detectives began an investigation into the incident. Thanks to the information provided by the witness, detectives were able to identify the suspect as (S) 25 year old Camarillo resident, Elizabeth Valdez.

On 8-9-17, Valdez was located by Camarillo Special Enforcement Detectives. Valdez was arrested without incident and booked into the Ventura County Main Jail.

Residents are encouraged to pay attention to their surroundings. If you see something occurring that you think is suspicious, or someone who is suspicious, you should note it, and contact the Camarillo Police Department. For safety reasons, police never want to encourage witnesses to intervene in the apprehension of criminals. However, we do encourage people to be good witnesses. In this case, the witness contacted the homeowner and when a crime was confirmed, the homeowner was able to provide suspect information to the police.

Studies have shown that it’s a small percentage of criminals who commit a large percentage of crimes. Any information that witnesses can provide, can improve the chances of suspects being apprehended.
