    Suspect located suspect in Santa Paula Attempted Murder

    UPDATE: On 10/11/2020, Santa Paula Police Department Detectives and the Special Enforcement Unit were able to locate and arrest Richard Valencia for 664/187 PC, Attempted Murder; 29800(a)(1) PC, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm and 30305(a) PC Felon in Possession of Ammunition. Valencia was taken into custody without incident and later transported to the Ventura County Main Jail. The victim in the case is still listed in critical condition.

    On Friday 10/09/2020 at approximately 4:48 pm, Santa Paula PD received a 911 call concerning a shot heard in the area of 8th St and Railroad Ave and that there was possibly a gunshot victim. Santa Paula Police Personnel arrived on scene and located a male gunshot victim. SPPD and Ventura County Fire Department personnel began treating the male victim at the scene. The victim was transported to Ventura County Medical Center where he is currently listed in critical but stable condition. Santa Paula PD sealed off the area and detectives responded to investigate the  shooting. The name of the victim is not being released at this time.
