If enacted by the voters of Ventura County this November, SUSTAIN VC would extend for another 20 years the right of the voters to have the final say on whether open space and agricultural land, as defined in law, can be subject to development. Moreover, recognizing the vital importance of a strong agricultural sector to Ventura County’s economy, SUSTAIN VC also:

  • Promotes water infrastructure projects, giving farms a sustainable source of water
  • Creates job and reduces trucking traffic by allowing local farm products to be processed locally
  • Will be set in law for 20 years, allowing voters to revisit the measure in half as much time as competing proposals
  • Requires an analysis of its economic impacts on Ventura County by 2026

Alternatively, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors will have the opportunity to adopt the measure as a county ordinance at its June 21st meeting.
