Tall Ship touring off Ventura County coast this week

I paddled down the Channel Islands Harbor main channel this morning past the tall ship “Lady Washington.” She was idle at the dock off Victoria Ave. with not a soul visible.  Our friends the McKearns were just heading out to sea in their hi-tech catamaran ketch. I headed up the coast to Ventura and back and the Lady was still at the dock.  My consolation prize was seeing a grey whale breach less than 50 feet away while a few minutes north of the Channel islands Harbor breakwater.
