Teens arrested for Commercial Burglaries in Piru

Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release

Four Ventura County juveniles were arrested in connection with a commercial burglary in Piru.

On the evening of January 5, 2021, deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office responded to Morelia’s Meat Market in Piru for a burglary that had just occurred. The deputies found the market’s front windows broken and learned several items had been stolen. The initial investigation determined that four juvenile females had committed the burglary and fled before their arrival.

On January 6, 2021, detectives conducted a follow-up investigation of the burglary. Detectives were able to identify the suspects and tracked them to a residence in close proximity to the crime scene. The detectives located all four suspects as well as evidence connecting them to the burglary.

Additionally, detectives found evidence connecting the juveniles to a coordinated shoplifting crime at Morelia’s Meat Market earlier in the day. Detectives concluded the juveniles had entered the market during business hours and worked together to steal items from the store.

The four juveniles were arrested for PC 459- Burglary, PC 459.5(a)- Shoplifting, and two counts of PC 182(a)- Conspiracy to Commit a Crime. The juveniles were transported and booked into the Juvenile Justice Center.
