Telling the Truth May Not Be Easy… But It Is Essential

  by Deborah Baber Savalla

There is a saying that goes something like this: If you have to pay for something, you value it more than anything you get for free. There is a another saying often invoked when talking about defending our nation and the men and women who “paid the ultimate price”. That saying is “Freedom is not free.”

Freedom, life, and liberty are NOT free. They are priceless!

Alas, too many among us have no experience with priceless objects. The result? We the people no longer know HOW to value our priceless American freedoms. We don’t know HOW to safeguard our Liberty because we don’t know where it comes from. (Practically speaking, our Liberty comes from our United States Constitution. Philosophically that Liberty comes from God but that is a topic for another day.)

On Saturday January 19, 2019, almost two years to the day since his inauguration, President Donald Trump spoke truths about our nation’s broken immigration system. He detailed some of the steps needed to right this wrong. He talked about our nation as a family asking that all among us, Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, etc. set aside political allegiance. He appealed to lawmaker-supporters and lawmaker-detractors to do the hard work they have been elected to do. He entreated all 435 members of the House of Representatives and all 100 Senators to talk to each other. In so many words, President Trump said:

“I’m the boss. Our product is Constitution-based Freedom & Liberty. The Constitution outlines critical investments we must make to maintain our product. As boss I am pledged to our USA-Company and responsible to its American-People stockholders. You 535 people are senior management.

Our 330 million stockholders chose you as their PROXIES. Your work is to ensure our Constitution-based Freedom & Liberty product exists and is healthy. You 535 proxies have not been doing the job. That is why I became our USA-Company President.

As boss, I am laying out guidelines for you 535 proxies. As senior managers, it is time for you to step up, roll up your sleeves, and start laying some bricks!”

If our 535 senior managers continue this stalemate, it will cost us 330 million stockholders our priceless way of life! It’s time to “buy the bricks”!
