The Endocannabinoid System and CBD Oil For Pets

    Column

    By Here Kitt

Pets have become our new best friends. With many humans claiming that they feel more love towards their fur babies than they do to other humans. This could be because cats and dogs are cute creatures or because they are so loyal and will love us no matter what. Regardless, we are much more like our pets than we might think.

It has been recently discovered that within our bodies run a complex system known as the endocannabinoid system. This system was discovered only a few years ago when researchers started studying the effect of cannabinoids, found in Cannabis, within our bodies. Learn more about the endocannabinoid system in humans and how it works with cannabidiols here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MT_5ZAcFBP0&t=1s.

After some research projects it was concluded that both cats and dogs also have an endocannabinoid system. Making them a great recipient to CBD-infused products. But how does CBD (cannabidiol) oil products and the endocannabinoid system or ECS correlate?

What is the Endocannabinoid System in Pets?

This is a complex system within many mammals that is solely responsible for regulating homeostasis and ensuring balance in many bodily functions. The system consists of receptors, endogenous cannabinoids, and metabolic enzymes. It works with the immune and nervous system to help the body regain or regulate critical homeostasis.

Researchers have conducted that the system promotes reproduction, fertility, mood, appetite, and mood, not only in humans but also in our pets. Whenever your pet’s ECS system is out of balance, they can experience anxiety, fear, aggression, poor appetite, digestive issues, low immune function, lethargy, off-balance, and pain in the body.

The excellent thing about this system is that it produces cannabinoids. Cannabinoids is the same compound found within the Cannabis plant. When the system starts to produce cannabinoids, it connects with a variation of receptors. Once received, the receptors transport the cannabinoids to certain parts of the body where it is broken down by enzymes to create balance where there is not any.

Knowing that our pet’s body produces cannabinoids naturally, it was easy to make the conclusion that when their bodies are off balance that an injection of new cannabinoids will help speed up the homeostatic role. It’s for this reason that companies like holista pet created CBD oil products.

When your pet is suffering from anxiety, stress, sleeplessness, pain, or inflammation, taking a CBD oil supplement can boost the healing process. Although it should not be used as a treatment or cure, it’s an excellent natural product referred by vets all over.

What is CBD Oil for Pets?

Because CBD products are relatively new, many people are skeptical to use it. And even more skeptical to give it to their beloved pets. It’s important to understand that there is a huge difference between cannabis products that are used for its drug-like effects and CBD products that are used for medicinal purposes.

The biggest difference between cannabis/weed and cannabidiol-infused products is the THC content. THC is the compound found within the cannabis plant that is responsible for the ‘high’ feeling. This compound is harmful and toxic to dogs and cats. Even though CBD and THC are both cannabinoids, the CBD holds much more medicinal benefits than THC.

Since hemp products have become legal, the government has set up rules and regulations regarding the use of it. In order for any CBD product to be sold it has to have less than 0.3% THC. Many manufacturers have created a variation of extraction methods to ensure there are almost 0% THC contents.

Therefore, users can experience all the therapeutic benefits without the THC levels influencing the body. So, before you think it’s okay to let your pet inhale secondhand THC-high marijuana smoke, you should rethink its toxic effects. Online CBD dispensaries have created a variety of cannabidiol-infused products that we can give our pets. Ranging from doggy treats to oils, they have all promised to help our pooches cope with debilitating side effects from certain medical conditions. The most popular product is the oil because its easy to add into the pet’s diet.

Made from the hemp plant (Cannabis Sativa), CBD oil is the perfect addition to any pet’s diet and is specifically formulated for pets. Some companies even add extra nutrients into the oil that includes Omega 3, 6, and 9 as well as healthy fatty acids.

By using a little dropper, the product can be dripped onto your pet’s dry food not only for extra flavor but for easy digestion too. Or you can let your pet lick the droplet from the little dropper for oral digestion.

When choosing a CBD oil product, you should ensure that the manufacturers used the CO2 extraction method. This method is not only faster and of higher quality, but it also ensures that all other toxic residues are removed. The powerful extraction method results in a high-quality product that will have fast results in your pet.

Benefits of the product will include:

    • The relieve of pain and inflammation
    • Regulation of anxiety and stress
    • Reducing seizure attacks in pets with epilepsy
    • Regulating a better mood and temperament

Since this product is all natural and organically made, it’s a great addition into your dog or cat’s diet. Working with the endocannabinoid system it will regulate numerous body functions to achieve ultimate homeostasis.
