The mysterious “Jade Helm 15” military exercise to be held in 7 states

 By George Miller

JadeHelmLogo2The U.S. military is planning an odd seven state exercise over a vast swath of America. It is supposed to run from mid-July to September this year. Even its name “Jade Helm,” is mysterious as well as its motto “mastering the human domain.”  There was almost zero coverage of it in the mainstream media, until very recently, when scads of articles with almost identical verbiage began popping up in response to withering criticism by “alternative” media. This flurry of recent mainstream media coverage is mainly focused on discrediting burgeoning grassroots skepticism and opposition to this military operation (EXAMPLE,  EXAMPLE). It attempts to ridicule and marginalize critics by conflating the extreme fringe who spout the wildest accusations with the larger majority displaying more reasonable and quite healthy skepticism.

Why opposition?

Some people are claiming Jade Helm is a covert attempt to impose martial law on huge swaths of the country. We’re skeptical of that, since the size of the force is totally inadequate for such an ambitious objective. Even hundreds of thousands of heavily armed crack troops weren’t able to control primitive, far smaller countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq. So, how could they possibly dominate armed “enemy” Red State Texans behind every blade of grass? Any attempt to impose widespread martial law would probably also seriously divide the military. In spite of the administration’s ongoing  program to purge the DOD (Department of Defense) leadership, with record numbers of command level officers removed from their posts in the last six years, the DOD command is still mostly Conservative Constitutionalists, who it is hoped will actually honor their OATHS.

So what is it?

From what we have been able to ascertain, Jade Helm is indeed a military exercise focused on unconventional, counterinsurgency warfare. However, given the above concerns, it is possible that DOD is indeed preparing to operate within our U.S. borders against perceived hostiles in the future? If so, would that be for good or evil? Some say that it is to complete the takeover of the U.S. and transition it to totalitarian Socialist or Fascist rule or even place it under a world government. Others believe that an upcoming severe economic crisis could leave the nation in anarchy, with people starving in the streets, killing each other and that martial law might be necessary, even welcomed by distressed inhabitants. Still others believe that a catastrophic conventional, bacteriological, nuclear, chemical or terrorist attack could destabilize the nation. Finally, others predict a need to deal with a future insurrection and attempt to overthrow what is thought by many to be an overreaching, out of control government, which would likely be resisted by said government. Having one of these scenarios occur seems somewhat more likely than it did a few decades ago.

Other information (unconfirmed) suggests that Jade Helm is geographically larger (10 states), involves larger forces and has already started.

Could Jade Helm “go live?”

This is highly unlikely, at least this year, given the relatively small number of troops involved, their extreme thinness of geographic/demographic coverage and physical dispersion and the nature of most officers. It is almost certainly for testing, training and developing doctrine for future use.

What are its true objectives?

Stated objectives are to test, train, practice and refine techniques for area control of territory, population and opposing forces. Sounds like something they should be preparing for, right?

However, there are some concerns.

We are told that they want to train as realistically as possible and as close to potential battle conditions as possible. So, why are they training on U.S. territory in our very western-style cities and towns, populated (still mostly) by Americans?  Why have they designated Conservative leaning states such as Texas and Utah as “enemy” states and colored them red on their campaign maps, while calling Liberal states friendly and coloring them blue, like on a network TV election campaign program? Why are they using “right wing extremist” role players for the exercises elsewhere? Shouldn’t they be engaging radical Jihadists? Why is the Department of Homeland Security embracing potential terrorist criteria which include: Conservatives, Libertarians, Constitutionalists, “Sovereigns,” Constitutional militia members, evangelical Christians, preppers, gold owners, Ron Paul supporters, anti-Federal Reservists, Misean economics adherents, home-schoolers, vaccine opponents and more?

Why did Obama make a campaign promise: “We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” Exactly what for? He is also obviously worried about armed and religious people, lamenting: “And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Concerns aren’t just limited to Obama or even Democrats in general. The bipartisan political class has taken alarming totalitarian steps in past years to control the populace and restrict freedoms. A slew of (unconstitutional) executive orders/actions issued by almost every president since FDR. These have decreed, renewed and expanded a state of emergency, claiming wartime powers to dictatorially control people and resources, including claims on land, materiel, communications, commerce, currency, banking and  labor, via directives, confiscation and even conscription of people. While much of this isn’t used frequently, the ever-present potential and mechanisms to implement them are in place for whenever. The so-called “Patriot Act” and the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) unconstitutional detention and killing provisions have already been used, albeit on a very limited scale.

The latest initiative is the breathtaking discovery, via Edward Snowden (now made public enemy #1 by the powers that be), that nearly 100% of all Internet traffic and phone calls are being intercepted, collected and even stored in their entirety or just as metadata by the NSA. Recent court challenges to this have logged some victories.  The NSA has just completed a massive data collection center costing in the billion dollar range to help do all this. Civil libertarians have warned us and warned us about these things, which have been continually renewed, expanded and tightened. Most recently, the FCC has unilaterally declared jurisdiction over the Internet, with no more than pro forma lip service resistance from Congress. In fact, the Senate just confirmed a new Attorney-General, even while listening to her tell them such actions are legal.

Why have so many military members come forward to say that they were asked if they would confiscate guns from American Citizens and fire on them if ordered? Why have American troops trained with foreign troops to handle civil insurrection in U.S. style settings?

Maybe this is all on the up-and-up. Maybe this really is, in fact, merely preparation for a foreign counterinsurgency campaign. The Internet is loaded with rumors and “doom porn” about it, as well as completely opposite opinions, which are hard to sort through. But given the known information that was presented here, it is any wonder that sentient citizens are uneasy?

I have an idea: If the government insists on running expanded military ops across seven Southwest states, why doesn’t it move all that “military training” south and protect our borders at the same time?!- Chuck Norris
