UNITED WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT’S BOARD TO CONSIDER SUPPORTING STATE WATER BOND 

The United Water Conservation District Board of Directors is considering supporting a November bond initiative: The Water Supply and Water Quality Act of 2018. The water bond, which will appear on the November 2018 statewide California ballot, will invest $8.877 billion dollars in California water infrastructure.

3 GREAT THINGS HAPPENING AT UNITED

1. $1.5 Million Grant for Groundwater Sustainability Plan 
UWCD assisted the Fillmore/Piru Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSA) in securing a $1.5 million grant from the Department of Water Resources for the development of their Groundwater Sustainability Plan.
 
2. $900,000 Grants Pending 
UWCD currently has applied for two important grants; one that would provide up to $300,000 in funding for the construction of the Iron Manganese Treatment Plant and the other $597,545 grant would help prevent the infestation of Quagga Mussels in the Santa Clara River. 
 
3. Lifelong Learning for Local Kids 
United Water staff conducted two student educational programs; one included a tour at the Freeman Diversion for Cornerstone Christian School 3rd graders, and the other at Sierra Linda Elementary for 2nd graders, who learned about basin recharge.

UNITED WATER JOINS WITH CITY OF OXNARD, LEGISLATORS & PARTNER AGENCIES TO CELEBRATE RICE AVENUE/5TH STREET GRADE SEPARATION PROJECT FUNDING 

Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin, 44th California Assembly District, announced the long-awaited funding of the Rice Avenue/5th Street grade separation project led by the City of Oxnard in partnerships with the County of Ventura.
