The Obama Administration — Have I got a Story for You

By Phil Erwin

In “Government (by) Fraud,” I lamented that the use of untruth (deceitful obfuscations, bald-face lies, deliberate fraud) has become de rigueur in the machinations of our national government. Common wisdom warns, “All politicians lie!” But knowing that politicians tend toward the untrue is very different from recognizing that the government, as an entity, has adopted untruth as an instrument of policy.

We are supposed to have a government of the People, by the People, and for the People. It says so right in our nation’s founding documents.

How can government be “of” or “by” us, if it is deliberately deceiving us?

That’s about on par with a wayward spouse defending infidelities by proclaiming “But I did it for you, Honey!”

We don’t expect spouses to survive such preposterous proclamations – nor do we expect our government to get away with lies for long. That’s what the Press is supposed to prevent, isn’t it?

Sadly, no longer – though that is precisely why the First Amendment guaranteed “freedom of the Press.” I suspect that most of those working in “The Press” (now more inclusively called “The Media”) still believe it – they’re taught that the Press is the “watchdog of Freedom.”

But that dog’s been put to sleep with a dangerous drug called “Liberal Orthodoxy.”

Most members of The Press are so steeped in Liberal perspectives promulgated via Universities, colleges and virtually all forms of news media, they simply cannot tell the difference between a Liberal lie and the Truth:

  • Obama’s crew croaks over and over that Guantanamo Bay is the “number one recruiting tool of ISIS,” and the Press believes it and parrots it endlessly and with great alacrity, despite the fact that the evidence clearly shows this is a complete lie.
  • ObamaCrew champions the “Affordable” Care Act as a way to contain healthcare costs and lower premiums while insuring the uninsured without raising taxes (a mathematical impossibility, by the way) and the Press spends years proclaiming this nonsense. So blinded are they by their own collective claptrap that they still haven’t recognized how subsequent facts have demonstrated the utter mathematical stupidity of the Big ObamaCare Lie.
  • Ben Rhodes, Obama’s go-to guy for foreign-policy verbiage, has admitted their constant assurances that the “deal” with Iran would prevent that nation from going nuclear were nothing but “a story” – writer-speak for “bald-faced lie.” Makes sense, because Rhodes is just that – a writer. Got the University degrees to prove it. So… a writer spins a story that a “deal” with a nation that funds terrorism is a good idea, and the Liberal Press buys it hook, line and stinker – and bends over backwards to convince the public of the story.

And when asked to analyze his performance as President, Obama lamented that his Administration needed to do a better job of “selling our story.” He really meant that. He thinks the reason his Administration is roundly criticized for their actions is not because of their actions, but because they’re not telling their story well enough!

So of course, it makes sense that he would rely on a professional storyteller to “sell the story” that the Iranian deal precludes a nuclear Iran.

Too bad Iran doesn’t plan on making that story come true.

Yet, when Obama complained that FOX is selling the “story” that the middle class is being “victimized by a big, bloated federal government run by a bunch of Left-wing elitists like me…” he implied that FOX’s “story” is just that: A fiction. No truth to it. Never mind the real stats. Never mind the obvious decline in the nation’s fortunes, the clear and present dangers gathering force both within and without our borders. Never mind what your heart is telling you. FOX is just selling you a story. And you know you can’t believe a story…

So: We should buy ObamaCrew’s story, but not buy FOX’s story?

Explain that, Mr. O.

Obama’s latest story is that he’s done a bang-up job “fixing” the economy. Never mind that the reason the “Unemployment” figure is low is because millions of Americans have been without jobs so long they’ve given up looking, while many of the jobs that are created are part time, low-wage jobs.   Never mind that nobody but the super-rich have any money to spare, and the number of people receiving public financial support of one kind or another has skyrocketed, while the nation’s productivity has been in the doldrums for years. Never mind that the national debt is so far out of reach, the only reason the nation isn’t declared bankrupt is that it’s still the keeper of the global currency keys. Otherwise, we’d now be swimming in inflation, just like Argentina.

Never mind those obvious truths; the Lamestream Press (pretty much everyone but FOX and Talk Radio) still believes, and promulgates, every story that ObamaCrew spins.

It seems we have now evolved to government of the fiction, by the storytellers, and (I suppose) for the fun of it. Fiction’s supposed to be fun, right?

But if you can’t tell the difference between the Liberal stories and the Truth, just sit back, relax, have another glass of Kool-aid, and maybe another toke on that Colorado marijuana. With the Liberal crowd either not caring that Hillary is less trustworthy than Obama, or believing with Bernie that Venezuela’s got their economy on the right track – Well, it’ll all be over soon.

I hear American ex-Pats in Costa Rica and Baja are living large. You think maybe they know something we don’t?
