The Rio School District Wants to Thank the Rio Community for Passing Measure L
The Committee for Caring for Rio Schools – Yes on Measure L would like to thank the Rio Community for passing Measure L. We are grateful that the Rio community has said yes to the needed improvements to local elementary schools in the Rio School District.
Now all of Rio’ s nine schools can be upgraded , renovated, and modernized to ensure a quality education for all local students.
While neighborhood schools have been well maintained over the years, outdated and overcrowded schools need to be addressed. Rio Plaza Elementary, the oldest, was first built in 1954, 64 years ago. Rio Real Elementary was built to accommodate 500 students, but today educates over 800. All local schools need major classroom and infrastructure imp rovements, and the district needs to reduce student overcrowding.
Approving Measure L will provide a quality education to local children by meeting today’ s safety, technology , and educational standards.
Measure L will make critical facility improvements to all schools including:
- Repairing or replacing leaky roofs
- Improving student access to computers and modern technology
- Making health, safety and handicapped accessibility improvements
- Constructing new classrooms and facilities to reduce student overcrowding
- Upgrading inadequate electrical and plumbing systems Hats off to the Rio Community for their support of Measure L!
