    Thousand Oaks | Argument ends in Stabbing

    Gary Dermanuel of Thousand Oaks 43 years old

    On 04/13/20 at approximately 4:50 AM, patrol deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a local hospital reference a stabbing victim. During the patrol deputies’ investigation, they identified the suspect as Gary Dermanuel. The victim and Dermanuel, both of whom know one another, were at the victim’s residence when they got into a verbal argument.

    The argument escalated and Dermanuel stabbed the victim once, prior to fleeing the area. The victim’s injury required that she be admitted to the hospital for treatment.

    Detectives with the East County Major Crimes Unit and the Thousand Oaks Police Department’s Vulnerable Population Unit initiated a search for Dermanuel. At approximately 8:50 AM, a member of the Vulnerable Population Unit located Dermanuel in the area of the 2400 block of Thousand Oaks Blvd and took him into custody. During the search of Dermanuel, the weapon believed to be used by him was recovered. Dermanuel was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for 245(a)(1) PC – Assault with a Deadly Weapon; his bail amount was set at $30,000 and his court date is scheduled for 04/15/20 at 1:30 PM.
