Thousand Oaks: Child Luring Incident Reported Near Sycamore Canyon School

A 12 year-old student was contacted by an unknown male suspect in a vehicle near Sycamore Canyon School. The incident was immediately reported and is being investigated as child luring.

At about 7:15 AM, a Sycamore Canyon School 7th grader reported a male subject driving a tan colored sport utility vehicle attempted to make verbal contact with the student, asking if the student needed a ride. The student was walking to school, traveling in a local neighborhood south of Sycamore Canyon School. The suspect did not exit the vehicle or make physical contact with the student. The student is safe and notified a family member, who immediately reported the incident to the police. Patrol officers, School Resource Officers, and investigators responded to the school and are working with school administrators.

The suspect was only described as a male with a deep voice, driving a tan colored 4-door sport utility vehicle with heavily tinted windows. This suspect’s vehicle does not appear to be linked to any other crimes. The case is being actively investigated by Thousand Oaks Police detectives.
