The National Disaster Search Dog Foundation is Strengthening Disaster Response in America.

Founded in 1996, this non-profit organization rescues and recruits dogs and partners them with firefighters and first-responders to find people in the wreckage of disasters.

Their National Training Center is based locally in Santa Paula. Unfortunately, the Thomas Fire burned several parts of their campus, but, the reconstruction of their Search City is almost complete.

In 2018, SDF-Trained Search Teams were activated to standby in Santa Barbara for mudslide pre-staging and were also deployed to help in the aftermath of the Camp Fire in Northern California.
