Ventura County Sheriff Department – Incident Press Release

On 03/12/19, at approximately 10:50 pm, a subject attempted to commit two separate robberies of individuals who were at the Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks.

In the first attempted robbery, the suspect produced a knife while demanding money from the victim. When the victim refused to submit to the suspect’s demands, the suspect walked away. The other victim was confronted in a parking area of the location and also refused to submit to the suspect’s demands. During this incident, the suspect did not produce a knife; however, the second victim received minor injuries from being battered by the suspect. East County Patrol personnel located the suspect vehicle as it was leaving the area. A traffic stop was attempted, the suspect refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued. During the course of the pursuit, the suspect’s vehicle struck a parked vehicle prior to eluding the pursuing deputies.

During their investigation, East County Patrol personnel were able to identify the suspect as Chandler Mackey. On 03/14/19, members of the East County Investigations’ Major Crimes Unit located Mackey in Woodland Hills and arrested him on the following charges: 2 counts of 664/211 PC (Attempt Robbery), 2800.2(a) VC (Felony Evading in a Vehicle), and 20002(a) VC (Misdemeanor Hit and Run).
