Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
On September 27, 2019, detectives with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office concluded a two month criminal investigation by arresting 22 year old Douglas Whitaker of Thousand Oaks for a variety sex related offenses.
During the month of August 2019, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Narcotic’s Unit was investigating Douglas Whitaker who was suspected of selling narcotics to Ventura County Residents. At the time, Whitaker was residing in Moorpark. During the investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at Whitaker’s home. A quantity of narcotics was seized and Whitaker was arrested for various narcotics violations. Whitaker was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and was released on his own recognizance on September 3, 2019. This case is pending court proceedings.
During the narcotics investigation, detectives recovered evidence showing Whitaker was sexually involved with underage females. Working with the Thousand Oaks Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit, detectives served several more search warrants, conducted interviews and gathered additional evidence. This included seizing child pornography possessed by Whitaker.
On September 27, 2019, detectives contacted Whitaker at his residence in the 3400 Block of
Trailview Court in the City of Thousand Oaks. Detectives arrested Whitaker and booked him at the East Valley Jail on various sex charges and his bail was set at $50.000.
On October 1, 2019, the case against Whitaker was presented to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office for filing. The District Attorney elected to file two counts of violation of Penal Code section 261.5(c)- Unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, one count of Penal Code section 287(b)(1)- Oral copulation of a child under 18 and one count of Penal Code section 311.11(a)- Possession or control of child pornography. Whitaker posted bail and was released from custody. Whitaker’s next court appearance is scheduled for October 10, 2019.
