Newbury Park Woman in Critical Condition — Hit by Motorcycle: Speed and Alcohol Contributing Factors

On Monday night, September 5, 2016, at approximately 7:00PM, a motorcyclist traveling eastbound on Lynn Road at Boxthorn Avenue, lost control of his motorcycle. The motorcyclist went down; separating from the motorcycle in the east bound lanes of Lynn Road. The motorcycle traveled onto the south sidewalk of eastbound Lynn Road, striking a woman who was walking her dog.
The pedestrian, Ellen Tyree, 74 yrs. of Newbury Park, was injured by the collision and transported to Los Robles Hospital. She was treated for her injuries and remains in critical condition in the hospital Intensive Care Unit. Her dog, who was also struck by the motorcycle, died at the scene.
The motorcyclist, Jonathan Deinhard, 21 yrs. of Camarillo, was treated for minor injuries, and released. He was arrested for 23153 VC / Felony DUI with Injuries. He was booked at the Ventura County Main Jail.
Speed and alcohol are contributing factors in this collision. The Thousand Oaks PD Traffic Bureau wants to remind our community to drink responsibly and don’t let others drive when intoxicated. Arrive home safely.
